This was our second stay at Bosque de Cabo and it did not disappoint. We brought our adult daughter with us this time to celebrate her birthday and it was everything we hoped for. .. . down to the beautiful heart-shaped cake the chef made for her birthday! The lodge is on a beautiful reserve. The lodge grounds are beautifully maintained and the reserve is left wild with well-maintained trails. Our daughter was out hiking every day and would have stayed forever if she could! There is a naturalist on the grounds who leads night tours, birding tours and nature walks and is available for questions the rest of the time. We took advantage of all of that. Carlos is a delight. We went horseback riding with Miguel and, again, one of the most amazing experiences I've had. We been on many trail rides but these horses were the best I've been on .... very well cared for, very responsive, very well behaved. Miguel follows a path through the rainforest onto the beach, along the beach to tide pools that present an interesting collection of sea life. The rest stop included Miguel finding and opening a coconut with his machete, we all drank the coconut milk and the horses joined us in enjoying the coconut meat! Meals at the Bosque are excellent and take everyone's dietary needs into account. There is a family pool and an adult pool and both nicely landscaped and maintained. We did enjoy our late afternoon swims after hiking. The rooms are beautiful. Ours had an unobstructed view of the Pacific ocean and a little grassy area that we shared with coati, peccaries and an armadillo. The beds are very comfortable, the fans are perfect for cooling at night and the area is so quiet. We also took a tour into Corcovado National Park. .. . very interesting with even more opportunities to see wildlife . . . . . we saw all four kinds of monkeys, a tapir, a sloth and a porcupine in additional to numerous birds. The tour requires an hour long boat ride from Puerto Jimenez to Corcovado . . . where the boats stop about 10 feet from the shore and you wade in (bring two pairs of shoes . . . one for water and one for hiking, you can leave your water shoes at the ranger station while on your hike) I get seasick very easily but had no trouble on this trip with a dose of meclizine, even though it was a rainy day. We saw bottlenose dolphins on the way out. In short, our stay at Bosque was magical in every way. . ... no complaint about anything from any of us..... we highly recommend you enjoy a stay there for several days (we were there for four)
