Rien à redire tout était parfait

Très calme, très serein, très belle restauration. Et la cuisine délicieuse.

I wanted to love this place. I didn't. The valet parking is 40 euros a day, the rooms are also pricy, the location isn't fantastic ... there are very few restaurants or bars within easy walking distance and there are roadworks in front of the hotel and throughout Lille, from what I saw, making getting around difficult. The rooms lack natural light -- there's no view and you can barely see the sky. The lighting in the room we had was very poor, especially in the bathroom. The carpet was orange, *****ed and worn and stained, the lampshades were wonky, the bathroom very dated. And, although there were high-end toiletries in the room, there was no conditioner, something most guests won't realize until they're in the shower and halfway through hairwashing. There was no coffee maker in the room, only instant coffee and nothing to actually stir a cup of coffee with -- it was either use your finger or the end of a toothbrush. It was very cold when I stayed in Lille and I was perpetually cold in the room itself, despite the heat being up to 22 C. On the upside, the pool was good, though towels not entirely easy to find. I would like to say good things about the staff on the front desk, who were welcoming and exceptionally helpful when approached about the issues I mentioned above. They offered a couple of room choices to try and improve the outlook from the windows and were gracious when I flagged up the toiletry and coffee issues. The bar/lounge area is very pleasant, the piano player great, the bar staff friendly. I had some fish and a risotto to eat in the bar and the food was excellent. This is a quirky property with an immense history, which I certainly appreciated. The staff made the stay, but I wouldn't select this particular property again.

Stunning hotel, a very short walk to the old town. Our room was beautiful, and the staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. Only one criticism - the lighting in the bathroom was seriously inadequate. We will definitely return!

Oh dear! Where to start? This hotel demonstrates that French history and American hotel chains don’t make an ‘entente cordiale’. Good things.- Reception staff Cleanliness Breakfasts Housekeeping. Bathroom. Not so good things- Lighting. Too dark to read almost everywhere except in bed. Heating. Very cold. Corridors freezing. B’room A/C mind of its own. Bar. Huge ugly bar dominates central atrium.Decor totally at odds with environment. Very poor choice of light food. Restaurant limited to attached ‘Estaminet’. Online booking system totally inadequate. Phone booking to hotel only at limited hours. Useless to have hotel information just as a QR code.

Not a 5*. No one helped with bags at the door. Parking was full so we had to drive around for over an hour to find anything. Building site next to our bedroom, nowhere near 5* experience.

Staff is friendly , courteous, and professional. Hotel is beautiful with a lot of history. Centrally located within short walking distance (10-15 mins) to main attractions. Room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Would recommend dinner at the restaurant where food was very good and reasonably priced.
