The Oberoi Cecil

From the moment we arrived at the Oberoi Cecil in Shimla we were greeted with kind, knowledgeable and helpful staff: from the ***ager to the concierge, room cleaning staff, restaurant chefs and servers as well as the therapists at the spa, all staff went out of their way to provide extraordinarily levels of service. This a place with a guiding ethos: “What can we do to make your stay with us better?" To highlight specific individuals is difficult as all were exceptional. Special thanks to Chef Raj Kappur Bhattia and his team, Tenzin (at the spa) and Chirag, our room attendant who kept our suite as beautiful and tidy as when we first arrived. As well as its people, the hotel has fantastic facilities: a great restaurant with a wide selection of Indian, Asian and European dishes; the gym is well-equipped and the pool is heated (29C/84F). A definite 5 star review.

One of the most memorable trip we had ..stayed for three plus weeks .... Would like to thank the whole Cecil team. From the front desk to housekeeping and dinning and the security all are so helpful and humble . You will feel at home always if you are staying at Cecil .

The best hotel I have been to. The staff are excellent, food delicious and the hotel facilities very good. For information for the independent traveller, there is a small airport in Shimla and Tibet is doable from here. Shimla is stunning, lots of wild Monkeys, history- including House of the former Viceroys of India and walking in foothills of Himalayas

The Cecil is a wonderful place to stay, made particularly so by the friendliness of the team who go out of their way to ensure all your needs are met. Beautiful rooms, public areas and great food in the dining room. We had a luxury room on the third floor. It was beautifully appointed. These rooms overlook the road at the front of the hotel and we were worried about noise. It proved less noisy than we anticipated and the soundproofing from the corridor (all rooms open off the stunning central atrium) was faultless. The windows could do with better double glazing, is my only negative comment. If you truly want a peaceful night, a room overlooking the valley is probably a safer bet. Altogether a wonderful experience. What a wonderful team.

All things you read are true. It’s an excellent hotel with service that’s incomparable especially if you’re from Europe. In room check in was excellent as it meant there was no sitting in the lobby. They gave our little one a little gift which made her day upon entry. The food is great, at breakfast they will make you anything on or off the menu, in room dining is very well ***aged, presented and tasty. There is a kids play area which was really useful for us. Make sure to use the turndown service, lovely way to end the night and a very good pillow menu. All in all a great stay. A few tips for those with kids: The front of the hotel can get loud, single glazed windows and it’s busy until 10pm ish. We used a white noise machine to avoid the disturbance. The swimming pool is only one depth so if you have toddlers who can’t swim then they do provide arm bands. We would definitely stay again. Thank you all very much

The hotel is full of character, our room was spotless and comfortable with a good pillow menu. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and cannot do enough for you. A perfect stay in Shimla. We highly recommend paying the extra for the valley view room, the vista is stunning.

Had an amazing stay at the Oberoi Cecil with family. The staff was very courteous and went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable. The kids had a great time thanks to the activity area. Special thanks to the staff especially Gaurav, Akshay, Sahil and Mukul

Stayed in the property for couple of days and it is indeed the best property in Shimla. Special thanks to head chef Raj Kumar ji who served some amazing food and made sure we get what we like. He is an asset to the hotel and it is always a pleasure to talk to him
