Great location in Port Alfred, with beautiful surroundings. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. However the rooms are disappointing. The carpet smells and the rooms are extremely outdated. The place needs a major revamp.

A great couples package - value for money! The staff is friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is tranquil, the views are amazing and the food is tasty. Other Port Alfred activities are within short distance from the hotel.

View was superb. River cruise was awesome. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Food was good and tasty. Please bring back the seafood evening. We stayed at the Halyards for our 37th wedding anniversary and heard about the seafood special which we were really looking forward to.

Having relocated from the Eastern Cape around the time of this hotel's establishment, I was eager to finally experience its offerings in this picturesque locale. However, my excitement quickly waned as disappointments marred my stay from check-in to departure. Initial issues arose with check-in dates, met with a focus on problems rather than solutions. Upon requesting alternative accommodations, my colleague and I were reassigned to other rooms, yet encountered further setbacks; his room featured damp, musty conditions necessitating a swift relocation, while mine, though lacking major issues, suffered from outdated amenities and disrepair, including peeling paint and unkempt bathrooms. Upon arrival, a lack of towels in my bathroom was promptly reported but not rectified, despite assurances from reception. Subsequent follow-ups yielded dirty replacements, exacerbating discomfort. Regrettably, these shortcomings overshadowed the hotel's potential, rendering our stay unsatisfactory. I am compelled to share this feedback in the hopes that others may avoid similar unpleasant experiences.

Perfect location looking out onto the marine and the river. The staff are very friendly and helpful staff. When we needed to change rooms, they gladly accommodated. The furniture and building requires maintenance unfortunately. We would stay there again as we did have a wonderful time. Breakfasts are enormous.

I popped in just for a cappuccino way too early in the morning at 6h45am in transit to Alexandria and had the friendliest greeting ever by reception. She took me through to the pool area where the bar staff served me a cappuccino. They were not even yet open...what amazing service! The view is just beautiful looking over the marina.

Whoow everything was excellent, staff rooms breakfast etc. I would like to come again. We are very excited, all 5 couples enjoyed treatment and committed shown by all staff meeting. The boat cruise taken on Saturday was enjoyable. The driver and Co-driver were very friendly.

Good service, nice hotel. Peaceful and quiet. Nice view of the Marina. Food was great. We travelled around Port Alfred, doing some site seeing. Visited the beach. There are also boat cruises available from the hotel. Didn't do unfortunately, but next time we will. Will definitely revisit

We went for Sunday buffet lunch on Sunday February 4th. The food was absolutely delicious with a wide variety of dishes for each course. The waitress attentive and very friendly. The only complaint is that we were not able to sample everything, because our stomachs were not big enough!! Well done Halyards Hotel and Spa on a value for money Sunday lunch!
