We are Perth residents and Margaret River is our regular go-to tree change. We have stayed in a variety of accommodation over the last 20 years but Heritage Trail Lodge is a stand out favourite. Near enough to walk over the Margaret River bridge to the delightful small town shopping street, tourist bureau, and restaurants in the evening, yet sufficiently close on the edge of bushland to hear the wind in the forest trees and watch busy little flocks of fairy wrens flitting round the balcony, not to mention robins, honeyeaters, ring net parrots, and of course the iconic carolling magpies. Several short and longer walking and cycling trails can be accessed directly from the property, and the historic old settlement is well worth a wander round. The accommodation itself does not disappoint, beautifully spacious bedrooms with all amenities, exactly as advertised, and a lovely fresh continental buffet breakfast with local produce, served in the light filled dining room [available for guest use throughout the day], or outside on the verandah in the warmer months, surrounded by lush gardens! What's not to love!
