Silver Tassie Hotel & Spa

My husband and I stayed in the Silver Tassie Hotel Letterkenny from Tuesday 2nd till Friday 5th from the minute we arrived the girl Orla that checked us in was just amazing and so lovely and made us feel very special she even give us an upgrade the room was so big with 2 king size beds and very comfy and a lovely sofa and bath room was a good size very clean and room warm food was lovely and staff what can we say you all are so friendly, caring and work as a great team will defo be back to stay and see Orla and get my hair cut again hope to see you all very soon 🥰💛Xo

This has to be one of the best managed hotels I have ever stayed in...The staff are so friendly and efficient it would put other hotels to shame....The food is good and served really quickly...The room we stayed in was clean but definitely a bit tired...To be honest it could have the furniture sprayed and and the wall panelling painted a bit of up cycling done and it would be a great job....It definitely wouldn't put me off coming back....I would like to try the spa next time...

The hotel was wonderful, and the staff were very friendly, the food was excellent and the beds comfortable. The cost was very reasonable. The spa was sublime and inviting and the staff there knew their stuff. Great place to visit will definitely go again

This is really the best hotel and spa in Letterkenny. It is a very well managed Hotel ,Food allways excellent, Staff friendly,professional,helpful.Always enjoy stays in this hotel . You do need a car as it is on tge outskirts of town. They have a really Top Knoth Spa here,really lovely staff,all very very good,and ultra pleasant.

Wow! I had a lovely evening, was in Letterkenny for a medical appointment and booked into Silver Tassie for the night; watched a movie whilst having my meal (lovely steak) chatted with a couple of the locals, they went on their way and I went back to my movie. Nobody else at the bar, I was not disturbing anyone till the obviously stressed out barman told me I cannot watch a movie at the bar "this is not a cinema' then said in his opinion I had enough drink, this was 9:30pm, there was a wedding going on! He had just served me an espresso martini and another glass of wine! Im a solo woman doing my thing, engaging in socialising in a public place and he made me feel so unwelcome even though I was booked in for the night. Turns out he is the proprietor. To intimidate a woman on her own who is not bothering anyone nor has any intention to, I find this highly offensive to any solo travellers out there. If you're in the Silver Tassie make sure u don't make conversation with the locals or u will be considered.......... I'm actually not sure what I was judged as being.... Good job I brought a bottle of me own!

Our room was a good size and all three beds were very comfortable. It was nicely appointed and we didn’t hear much Road noise. The hotel bar was pleasant and very friendly, with a good selection of beers and whiskies. Breakfast was very good. We found all the staff helpful and pleasant and the hotel is a good base to visit Letterkenny and the Donegal area.

We got a standard room so didn’t expect luxury but even at that it was less than stellar. The room was very dated, drab and in need of a thorough renovation. The bathroom was basic with next to zero niceties and like the room itself, could use some TLC. Our room also backed up to the dumpsters and various other tanks and maintenance supplies. A truck delivering food backed in one morning so I assume this is where the back of the kitchen is. As to the restaurant…. Breakfast buffet was unimpressive with minimal offerings. So unless you ordered a huge breakfast, you were out of luck for something lighter yet still nutritious and tasty. Dinner was good. Now the biggest issue, the bed in our room. The mattress desperately needs to be replaced ASAP as there is a hole in the side of the mattress from which a spring stabbed me in the back of my leg when sitting the side of the bed. There is no way no one had seen or reported this previously! There may be nice rooms o In the Silver Tassie but what we saw indicates a very tired hotel in need of a renovation.

We had a great Golden years 3 night brake at the Silver Tassie hotel. The accommodation, food both breakfast and bar were excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We found the hotel very good base for touring.

A very welcoming hotel . There are lounges, conservatory and outside sitting areas and lots of free parking. The bar serves a good variety of great food, with very generous portions. The cooked breakfast menu also offers a good choice with large portions and is served. The only part of breakfast that doesn't reflect the same standard is the buffet, with no fresh fruit, limited breads and no cooked meats or cheeses on offer. The serving staff (especially the breakfast servers) are excellent and always make time to chat and offer options, which was really appreciated as my husband is celiac . Now comes the more difficult section of the review, the bedrooms. Our room was overlooking a flat roof and a nearby wall had all the hotel's extractor fans which were very noisy . These started very early in the morning and went on until approximately 11:00pm. As the room had no air conditioning we had to keep the windows open which just increased the noise levels. While the room was clean it was very dated and in need of an update. The bed could also do with being replaced. The bathroom was spacious with a full-sized bath. However the bath panel was very shabby and there was mould around the base of the shower screen. Every time the toilet was flushed it made a lot of noise (not a macerator) . While the water was hot and plentiful, once again the bath taps were noisy when used. One nice touch in the bedroom was a DVD player with a DVD library in reception . I would certainly visit the hotel again to eat, but not sure I'd want to stay again
