I had a terrible experience at Best Western Cascadia Inn and would not stay there again. I was traveling with my child and had called to let the hotel know that we would arrive very late, around 12 or 1 AM. There was a massive winter storm that night, and the temperature had dropped to the teens. When we got to our room, it was cold with no heat. The heater was turned off, and I later discovered why. The thermostat on the through-the-wall heater was broken. It never turned off when I turned on the heat and set the temperature. So we went to sleep freezing and woke up sweating as the room had heated up to the mid-80s. I opened the windows as far as they would go, even though it was only 15 degrees outside, to cool down the room to a reasonable temperature. My child and I had to endure a miserable stay, sleeping with the windows open in a massive winter storm, as the heater's thermometer was broken and would not thermostatically control the unit. Ahhh, now I understand the staff already knew about it. See, that's why the heater was TURNED OFF, and the room was not maintained at a reasonable temperature for my arrival. They were OK with not working and for us not being comfortable. Why didn't I say something to the management on staff? one might ask. To be honest, I simply didn't have the time. We were there for a funeral and every moment was precious to spend with family. Throughout our entire stay, we were either busy with something or exhaustedly sleeping with the window open, trying to stay comfortable.
