I organised a surprise 70th birthday party for my husband. James, the General Manager, helped me alot from the moment I booked it. He kindly organised vegan food for my son. I felt very relaxed knowing I was in safe hands. All the staff were professional, attentive, very friendly and helpful. Seven of us stayed overnight. The rooms were very comfortable and had all the facilities we needed. The next morning we all had a delicious breakfast including a buffet selection and then a cooked plate of food. All the trimmings and piping hot. I couldn't recommend Ravenswood Hall Hotel more highly and, as we only live 15 minutes away will try and visit regularly.

I made plans to visit a friend in the area to celebrate NYE and arrived at the hotel on the 31st of December. I used another company to book my room. I checked in at reception, but my booking details were not showing up on their booking system. They kindly offered me the only room left in the hotel so that I could get changed and relax a bit before my friends picked me up. I received a call from reception, asking me to come back to the reception because they found my booking and would like to complete the check-in, only to discover that I had booked the wrong month and didn't read my confirmation email properly. I felt so embarrassed. I had wasted everyone's time, and thank god they had a room to give me. The staff were helpful and attentive and couldn't do enough to make my stay enjoyable. The room was just perfect for me, and the breakfast was delicious. I definitely had value for money and enjoyed my short stay very much. I highly recommend it for a short break and look forward to my next visit.

We recently visited Ravenwood Hall for 4 nights. My husband and I found it a nice place with pleasant staff. It's very old with lots of period features and large rooms. The dining room is a particularly nice add on with large stone fireplace and gas pretend log grate. Our room was nice but needed a lick of paint, new carpet to replace the badly marked one and the bath had lost its enamel shine. Otherwise OK and a very large comfy bed. Food was OK if unremarkable although no dinner Sunday evenings was a downer. On our 3rd morning we had no heating due to running out of oil! It was really chilly. A damp day with no sun and a cold wind. Dining room was freezing and no gas fire lit. We returned cold and damp in late afternoon ready for a lovely hot bath. Still no heating as the boiler was now airlocked so we were given a small fan heater which took ages to get the room warmer. No hot water and a freezing bathroom meant we didn't even change. Boiled kettle for a wash and got dinner. We were told there was now hot water but it never became any more than tepid by the time we left the following morning after still no heating. We were given £20 discount from our food bill for our "inconvenience". I will let you draw your own conclusions on our customer care.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our Sunday lunch at Ravenwood Hall celebrating my wife's birthday. The food was excellent, whilst the staff were very wellcoming. Lovely old building with lots of character in a nice wooded setting. Will certainly be back.

Disappointed in the selection and amount of food not enough sausage rolls and other items to go round. Vegetarian food specially requested was layed in with other food and expected more than scones i could have brought in a supermarket. After booking to celebrate a colleagues retirement expected something a little more special. Very slow and poor service had to wait a long time for food and drinks. Won't be visiting again.

Evening started well. Nice ambiance, roaring fire, lovely looking Valentines menu £35.99ph. We were 2nd couple to arrive at 6:30. Slightly wilted rose with thorns on arrival. Baked Camembert to share - nice but uncooked in Centre. ‘Rosemary baguette’ was a cut up plain bagel…. ! Salmon blinis and sorbet - very nice (see pic) also nice timing between courses at this point. Feather blade of beef - lovely. Asked for extra sauce and was given gravy but still very good. Risotto was undercooked but ok. By this point we had been in the restaurant 1.5 hours which is fine for a relaxed meal. From here the evening became increasingly frustrating. Tried to get a second wine from a very surprised waiter. This took 20 minutes to arrive, which meant I had eaten my main course when it came. Finished mains at 8:15 and it took an hour for someone to approach the table and clear our plates. A further 20 minutes for dessert to arrive; it was the wrong order for my partner, so we shared one dessert for a while. There were no raisins in the apple tart as advertised (and it was apple pie not tart) but it was still good. The chocolate delice was very underwhelming. After a further 20 minutes and noone had cleared our plates. I went to the bar and said we had to leave (9.55) and was offered hot drinks and the promised homemade fudge immediately. (We are now the last but one table in the restaurant). Tea came with hot milk (!) and no fudge which I then asked for. A chopped up delice was brought out as the ‘fudge’ (see pic). We complained and to their credit our drinks were knocked off the bill. Staff illness was cited - However, this was very poorly managed as we could see staff chatting in bar area throughout the evening - and during the entire 3 hours no one asked us if we / the food was ok; or asked whether we wanted more drinks. Left at 10:10 the last guests to leave. Would not recommend!

What a little gem of a hotel. Have never visited before but would definitely revisit in the future. It’s a very historic and atmospheric hotel with such wonderful, friendly staff. Our room was very comfortable and clean and filled with period furniture which was lovely. We did eat at the hotel and to be honest the quality of food wasn’t brilliant. If/when we stay again we would probably eat elsewhere - but on the plus side there is a big open fire in the restaurant which was very cozy and welcoming.
