Marlborough Vintners Accommodation

I know we shouldn't review more than a year out, and I know I promised Thompson I'd leave a stellar review, but life happens, and I never got around to posting. Still, I think of this place a lot, and I must wonder why its presence on TripAdvisor is so scant. We stayed at Marlborough Vintners Hotel back in May 2022. New Zealand had just reopened to tourism, and things were still very quiet. We were maybe one of two families staying at the property that evening. We arrived after 5:00PM just after the front desk had closed, so we called the manager on site and were put in touch with a very helpful gentleman named Thompson. Thomson came out within minutes to greet us, and he very skillfully assembled a playpen/cot for our baby. We stayed in a one-bedroom condo in the middle of the vineyard. The leaves were golden, and the view from our patio was absolutely beautiful. Our condo had a well-appointed kitchenette with fridge, microwave, kettle, and coffee maker. Drawers were properly stocked with cutlery. Living room area had a sectional sofa, coffee table, decorative bowl, and 42 inch television. Bedroom had a king-sized bed, bathroom was spacious. Everything was clean and perfectly appointed. I was so pleased with my stay that I can only say that my only disappoin**ent was in how short it was.

Absolutely beautifully clean and appointed accommodation. You couldn’t ask for anything more. Great mountain views amongst the vineyards. Our ferry got in late and they made sure we had access to our villa on arrival even though it was 1.30 am.

We had a two night stay - the place is very tired but grounds are lovely and room clean. However, on arrival we were advised our room had been cancelled. This turned out to be a mistake by reception. Not a good start. We then came back from a day of golf to find our room not serviced. On asking about this we were told we hadn’t put the card out - the letter you get on arrival clearly states only put the card out of you DON’T want your room serviced. We were told that they don’t like coming into people rooms unless requested. Not good - this is a hotel and rooms should be serviced. The outdoor furniture is so very rusty and in bad condition. I note this has been in other reviews and commented by the hotel they would be looking at this. Obviously this still hasn’t happened. The place does need painting but understand in this environment things need to be prioritised. However service levels should always be good.
