Creekside Inn - Bishop

Bedbugs! I awoke after one night in Creekside Inn on March 22nd, 2024 with quarter inch size round red bumps on my entire right shoulder blade. I noticed it all day itching. That afternoon we compared it to pictures on the Internet and it looked likeBEDBUGS. We spoke with the general manager who told us we couldn’t prove it was BEDBUGS and then if we didn’t see them VISUALLY THEN we didn’t have BEDBUGS. I told him that bedbugs can’t always be seen and he said are” you calling me a liar”. I asked him to refund our second night because we would not sleep in the bed and he said NO TO REFUND, then we asked for another room and he said NO, then we asked for clean sheets and he said NO TO CALLING HOUSKEEPING IN. We did not stay the second night, and they did not refund us. I returned home and visited my dermatologist. I still have a residual area of redness and bumps. She said it’s Highly likely BEDBUGS and she has seen it before. She wrote out of diagnosis on a prescription sheet With diagnosis: likely bedbugs. In addition I had to go home, wash all our clothing , isolate our suitcases etc. it was a weeklong process. It is a bit of a nightmare, because we don’t know if any of the bedbugs made it to our home! I would not recommend this hotel. It has BEDBUGS to the best of my knowledge.!! EXTREMELY INDIGNANT, RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE BY THE GENERAL

This was our first time staying here and we are so glad we did. The hotel is well Maintained and overall nice, the rooms are clean and comfy. The breakfast buffet was a hit The staff were really friendly and accommodating they covered to put our frozen stuff in the staff freezer for us. Loads of parking and good food Nextdoor at the bowling alley

We have stayed at this hotel 4 years ago, and decided to come back through Bishop and stay again. Our first experience was wonderful. This time around was very disappointing. When I went to check in, I had booked a Creekside room bottom floor and payed extra. $350 to be exact for one night. When I finished with paying for the room when we got there, I was told our room was on the second floor. I had said to the person at the front that I had booked the bottom floor creekside room. She started to argue with me and say that it was only showing her that I had booked a 2 bed room that it didn’t show which room. I then pulled up my original reservation that I had booked 2 months in advance that showed her what room I had originally booked. She still proceeded to tell me that she didn’t know if that room was still available. What??? So I asked her if all the rooms were the insane price I had paid and she never answered me. But, low and behold the room I had actually booked was available. She then asked me to send her a copy of my original booking so that she could show management. She was very rude and started my night off with a sour taste. We then after unloading our vehicle and children get into the room, and well there was nothing new, just out dated furniture with a broken lock on the sliding door. We then ordered food and wanted to sit next to the fire pit by our room. We couldn’t figure out how to turn it on and called the front desk. We got a “there is a button you need to push.” Okay, I then told her there was no button and if she could send someone down to help us…my next response was “we don’t do that”. Okay well I guess this will be the last visit to this over priced, rude employee hotel again. Oh and they are adding a bar which will probably make the rooms way more money.

Things sadly seem to have gone downhill since our previous visits, most recently 5 years ago. The deep brown walls & furnishings made our room very dark even with all the lights on. Depressing. After dinner we wanted to relax and watch a movie, but there were no premium channels or streaming apps available. The wifi was so slow, with constant buffering and connection interruptions, that we couldn't watch anything on our laptop either. The breakfast area was unpleasantly messy and the tables weren't being cleaned after use. Many of the food items needed to be refilled. The "hot water" for tea was tepid. There is a $20 fee per night, but for what I can't imagine. Surely not the anemic wifi or "complimentary" breakfast. That plus the relatively high room rates make Creekside Inn a poor value and we will look elsewhere next time.

The hotel was excellent. Great public area with a fireplace. Good place to read or play a game. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was quite good with sufficient space for guests. The staff were pleasant and helpful and there was sufficient parking. My only complaint is the $40 ($20/night) for hotel services — with no explanation as to what this was for. It would have been far more appropriate to simply raise the daily room rental than tack on a charge for services (particularly when no services were provided).

I made an unplanned stop in Bishop so walked in off the street and got my room. My beef: for a 3-star hotel, the tea bags were way below par. Tea drinkers everywhere are treated like we don’t exist. I have news for you: we travel, we spend money on choice hotels. So I had to call for my tea bags. I was given 3 choices: black, green, or peppermint. The tea bags, when delivered, were not even Bigelow, Twining, or Kusmi, but no-name food service generics in paper packaging. Hello, we tea drinkers would like a selection of teas also: Earl Grey, Lady Grey, Darjeeling, Herbals, etc., along with the standard English Breakfast tea, IN the room. Keurig makes tea kcups, why must I beg for tea when coffee drinkers have their multiple choice of coffees just hanging around? Now that the ugly part is out of the way, the good: Location is next to Schat’s, the default stop for travelers passing through Bishop. The creek provides a tranquil treat for the eyes. The rooms are quiet, the beds/pillows, etc. are very comfy. There’s even a washer/dryer - free, so you don’t need to scrounge around for your 8 quarters. (Tide pods available at the desk for a fee). Great room has a roaring wood fire, where I’m sitting waiting for the 6am-9am free breakfast, great ambiance for the cold season. Minor bad: no lotion in the room, I had to call for it. When delivered, it’s not the same brand as the shampoo/conditioner/soap, which is a bit odd. The privately-owned hotel has just been sold in October to new owners and changes are apparently on the way. May I suggest the new owners move it a step closer to the Relais & Chateau level simply by providing a selection of TEA in the room.

I stayed here almost every winter when we visit the mammoth lake. This year, I noticed there had been changes to staffs. The staffs did not have self-initiative. I stayed for 3 nights, and requested for room service on the second day. However, room service was overlooked. Nothing was done to the room. We were so shocked, went to the front desk to let them know. They were apologetic but did not offer any solution. As returning guest, we had to suggest to them what they should do instead. At that time, there were two staffs at the front desk, the other staff wasn't helping us, decided to jump in and made a statement that they don't do room service daily. That was totally unnecessary. I have mentioned to the staff at the checked-in that I would like to have room service on the second day. It should be captured in their system which was not. In addition to that, one the first night of our stay, my son had an accident on the bed, therefore, a room service was much needed. We reported to the front desk about it and obtained a replacement sheets on the first night. They were aware of it. Another thing, we have an infant traveling with us, my wife was asking for hot water. Before they remodeled the dining area, we were able to get hot water when we requested from the staff. To my disappointment, when we requested for hot water, the front desk staff told my wife to get the hot water from the room faucet. That was totally unnecessary, irrelevant and inappropriate. I wouldn't drink hot water from the faucet, let alone offering that to my infant child. With all the dramas, we have requested a call back from the manager. It was a male manager who called back and my wife took over the phone and told him the situation. Instead him being apologetic, he told my wife off. He accused us being rude to the front desk staffs. We did not yell or scream at the staff even though we were frustrated. Also, he told us what was wrong to drink hot water from the faucet. In all honesty, we now know that, it drew a picture where a manager has that sort of unwelcoming attitude, hence all the staffs below him. This place is going downhill for sure. I hope the owner will see this message and do something about it. As far as I know, this will not be my first choice place of stay anymore. To all families and individuals out there, if you were to read this message, please go elsewhere. They do not welcome guests to this place like I did, being yelled at from the male manager. I will never forgotten my conversation with the manager. Utterly ruthless.

We prefer a sleeping temp below 70 degrees. We turned the temp on the room thermostat down to 66 but felt warm air coming out. There was no way to switch from heat to cool on the thermostat. They have a central air system where they control whether all rooms get heat or cool, so there was no way to cool the room down since they are pumping heat into every room. Comfortable beds and a comfortable room are key to overnight stay satisfaction for us. I rated them a 2 because the room was too hot. On top of that I could hear the neighbor above us walking around until late at night.
